Napoli forward Walid Cheddira emerges as Hellas Verona transfer target

Morocco-Italy forward Walid Cheddira is being linked with a move from Napoli to Hellas Verona, with the 28-year-old under contract with the Serie A club until 30 June 2028.

Cheddira joined Napoli from Bari in August 2023 for a reported €3m and has since spent much of his time away from the club on loan. During the 2025-26 season, the centre-forward played for Sassuolo before moving to Lecce in January, returning to Napoli at the end of both loan spells.

The proposed move would see Cheddira join Verona, who are listed in Serie B, while Napoli remain in Serie A. No transfer fee or probability has been disclosed for the rumoured switch.

Cheddira’s most productive spell in Italian football came with Bari in Serie B in 2022-23, when he scored 17 goals in 31 appearances and added seven assists. He also finished as the Italy Cup’s leading scorer that season with five goals.

The forward was part of Napoli’s squad that won the Italian title in 2024-25, although he spent that campaign on loan at Espanyol. His current market valuation is €2m, below the €8m peak recorded during his Napoli career.

He remains a Napoli player with two years left on his existing contract, but Verona have been linked with a move as the clubs consider the next stage of his career.
