Ferran Torres’ Barcelona chapter closes as Paris move is agreed
Barcelona have reached a final agreement with Paris Saint-Germain over the sale of Spain forward Ferran Torres, bringing the 26-year-old’s time at Camp Nou to an end and clearing the way for a new chapter in the French capital.
The deal is worth approximately €50m, according to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo. The reported figure is fixed, with no additional clauses, performance-related payments or other variables included in the agreement between the two clubs.
Torres is expected to sign a five-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain. The former Valencia forward is set to join the French club shortly, with the move now at the final administrative stage.
Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are working to transfer their verbal agreement into formal legal documents. The clubs have reached a definitive understanding over the deal, and the remaining steps are considered procedural rather than substantive.
The only outstanding requirement for Torres is a medical examination in Paris. Once that has been completed, the transfer can be officially announced. The medical is the final condition before the move is confirmed publicly, following the clubs’ agreement on the essential terms.
Torres had already taken a step towards leaving Barcelona before the deal was finalised. Through his agent, he asked the club’s management for permission not to attend training last Wednesday under manager Hansi Flick, in preparation for the transfer.
That request came as Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain moved towards concluding negotiations over the forward’s departure. With the clubs now understood to have settled the transfer fee and contract arrangements, Torres’ Barcelona career is drawing to a close.
The agreed €50m sum does not include any add-ons or variables, meaning the amount payable is set rather than dependent on future appearances, performances or other conditions. The arrangement therefore provides clarity over the financial value of the transfer before the player completes his medical.
Torres’ next destination will be Paris Saint-Germain, where he is expected to begin a five-year spell after the formalities have been completed. The 26-year-old’s move will be confirmed once the documentation is signed and his medical in Paris has taken place.
Although the official announcement has yet to be made, the agreement between Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain is described as final, with no prospect of the transfer being reversed. The clubs’ current work is focused on recording the terms in the contracts, while Torres awaits the medical that stands between him and his move to the French capital.
