Monaco demand more than €60m for Lamine Camara as Premier League interest grows

Lamine Camara is attracting increasing interest from the Premier League, but AS Monaco are not prepared to make the Senegal midfielder available easily and would reportedly want more than €60m for his signature.

Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Crystal Palace are all monitoring the 21-year-old’s situation in the Principality. Crystal Palace are understood to have already tested Monaco’s resolve with a bid worth about €35m, although that proposal did not persuade the Ligue 1 club to consider selling.

Monaco’s preference is to keep Camara as part of their squad rather than sanction his departure. The club regard the midfielder as an important player and have placed a substantial valuation on him, reflecting both his potential and the length of his current contract.

According to Nice-Matin, Monaco would not even be willing to open discussions over a transfer for €60m. The club’s hierarchy have therefore set their asking price above that figure, making it clear that any interested side would need to make a significantly improved offer before negotiations could begin.

Africafoot has also reported exclusively that Brighton are in contact with Camara’s representatives. That adds another Premier League club to the growing list of teams following the Senegal international, alongside Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Crystal Palace.

Camara remains under contract at Monaco until June 2029. His current market value is estimated at €40m by Transfermarkt, meaning Monaco’s reported valuation is considerably higher than the figure currently attached to him by the football transfer website.

Despite the attention from several established English clubs, Camara is not thought to be pushing for a move away from Monaco. The Senegal midfielder is reportedly not trying to force a transfer and does not intend to rush his departure from the club this summer.

Camara earns an annual salary of €920,000, equivalent to 598,000,000 CFA francs. His agreement with Monaco is due to remain in place until 2029.

The midfielder’s immediate focus will be on the start of the French league campaign. Monaco are due to play Le Havre AC in their opening match of the championship, with the club’s transfer stance suggesting Camara could remain available to manager Adi Hutter despite the continued speculation around his future.
