Manchester City extend Jeremy Doku contract until 2031
Manchester City have extended the contract of Belgium winger Jeremy Doku by five years, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2031.
Doku, who joined City from French club Rennes in the summer of 2023, has established himself as one of the team’s leading players during his first three seasons in Manchester.
The 24-year-old has impressed with his pace, dribbling ability and capacity to create and score goals. He has made 131 appearances for Manchester City, scoring 22 goals and providing 34 assists.
The winger has also helped the club win five trophies, including the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and Community Shield.
Speaking to Manchester City’s official website after signing his new deal, Doku said: “I have really enjoyed my time with Manchester City so far, so having the opportunity to continue for longer is a great feeling.”
He added: “This club means a lot to me. I have developed here as a player and as a person, I feel settled, and I know I am improving every day because of the work the coaching staff do.”
Doku also expressed his enthusiasm for the season ahead under manager Enzo Maresca.
“With Enzo Maresca here now, I feel very excited about the new season,” he said. “His style of football is the type we like, and that is exciting for the players.”
The Belgium international said Manchester City’s supporters had played an important part in his decision to remain at the club.
“Manchester City fans are also a big reason behind me signing the new contract,” Doku said. “I feel their love and support, and that means the world to me. I want to focus on giving them the success they deserve.”
Manchester City will begin their competitive preparations against Arsenal in the Community Shield on Sunday, before starting the new league season against Bournemouth on Sunday, 23 August.
That opening Premier League fixture will be played at the Etihad Stadium.
City finished last season as runners-up behind champions Arsenal, who ended the campaign seven points clear at the top of the table.
Doku’s new contract represents a long-term commitment from Manchester City to a player who has become an important part of their squad since arriving from Rennes. The winger’s attacking qualities have made him a regular feature of the side, while his contribution in front of goal and in creating chances has helped City secure domestic and international silverware.
His extension also ensures he will remain with the club through to the summer of 2031, covering the first part of the next phase of Manchester City’s development under Maresca.
