Luxembourg City strengthen defence with French-Algerian right-back Ismail Ait Meziani
French-Algerian defender Ismail Ait Meziani has joined Luxembourg City from US Forbach on a free transfer.
The 31-year-old right-back completed the move on 12 August 2026 and becomes a Luxembourg City player for the 2026-27 season. The club compete in Luxembourg’s Ehrenpromotion.
Ait Meziani arrives after two years with US Forbach, having returned to the French club in July 2024. His latest switch continues a career that has included spells with several clubs in France and Germany, all completed without a transfer fee.
The El Biar-born defender began his senior career with US Forbach after coming through Red Star’s under-19 side. He moved to US Raon-l’Etape in July 2014 before returning to US Forbach a year later.
Ait Meziani then spent part of the 2016-17 campaign with Saint-Quentin, followed by a move to SV Saar 05. He went back to US Forbach in July 2017, before leaving France for PO Ormidias in 2018.
After a year with PO Ormidias, he joined Sarreguemines in July 2019. His next move came in August 2020, when he signed for US Sarre-Union. He later represented Hombourg-Haut from July 2023 until his return to US Forbach the following year.
The defender stands 1.77m tall and favours his right foot. His arrival gives Luxembourg City an experienced option at right-back as the club prepare for the new campaign.
Ait Meziani’s move follows a sequence of free transfers throughout his senior career, including his switches between US Forbach, Saint-Quentin, SV Saar 05, PO Ormidias, Sarreguemines, US Sarre-Union and Hombourg-Haut.
He has now completed his latest change of club by leaving US Forbach for Luxembourg City, with the transfer taking effect on 12 August 2026.
