Recre Granada add Ghana centre-back Derrick Mensah Antwi to Spanish squad

Ghanaian defender Derrick Mensah Antwi has joined Recre Granada from Trival Valderas on a free transfer, beginning a new chapter in Spain with a contract running until 30 June 2027.

The 22-year-old centre-back completed the move on 12 August 2026 after spending the second half of the 2025-26 season with Trival Valderas. He becomes a Recre Granada player following his arrival from the Spanish club without a transfer fee.

Antwi moved to Trival Valderas from Ghanaian side WAFA SC on a free transfer on 31 January 2026. His switch to Recre Granada represents his second club change of 2026 and keeps him in the Spanish game after his brief spell with Trival Valderas.

Standing 1.86m tall, Antwi offers Recre Granada a central defensive option as the club adds a Ghana international-profile player to its squad. His recorded playing role is centre-back, and he arrives at the age of 22.

The defender’s recent record includes 36 appearances and one goal in the Premier League, along with six appearances and one goal in the Promocion a 2a Federacion competition. Across those appearances, he has contributed two goals while operating primarily in defence.

Antwi’s move follows a short period at Trival Valderas, where he joined midway through the previous campaign after leaving WAFA SC. The transfer also marks a continuation of his career in Spain, with Recre Granada now becoming his latest club.

His contract with Recre Granada is scheduled to run through the end of June 2027. The agreement gives the club control of the Ghanaian defender for the coming season and beyond, with the move completed as a free transfer.

Antwi has now officially switched from Trival Valderas to Recre Granada, completing the deal on 12 August 2026.
