Adil Tahif signs for RS Berkane as Morocco defender leaves Umm Salal

Morocco centre-back Adil Tahif has joined RS Berkane from Umm Salal SC, securing a return to the club where he established himself before moving to Qatar.

The 25-year-old has signed a contract with the Botola Pro Inwi side until 30 June 2028. Tahif, who is 1.81m tall and prefers his right foot, strengthens Berkane’s defence after spending the 2025-26 season with Umm Salal.

Tahif initially joined Umm Salal from RS Berkane in July 2025 on a free transfer. His move back to Morocco brings him to a club where he previously made a significant contribution across domestic and continental competition.

During his career in the Botola Pro Inwi, Tahif has made 93 appearances and scored four goals, while he has added three goals in 23 CAF Confederation Cup matches. He also recorded 15 appearances in the Stars League and featured in Qatar’s domestic cup competitions during his time with Umm Salal.

His first spell at Berkane included the club’s Moroccan championship and CAF Confederation Cup successes in the 2024-25 season. Tahif was also part of the squad that won the Moroccan Cup in 2022-23.

The defender began his senior career with CD Leganes B after progressing through Leganes’ Under-19 side. He later moved to SCC Mohammedia in 2021 before joining Berkane in September 2022.

Tahif’s international background includes representing Morocco’s Olympic team at the 2024 Games, where the side finished third. His return also reunites him with a club that has featured prominently in his career and honours history.

RS Berkane compete in the Botola Pro Inwi, while Tahif’s former club Umm Salal play in Qatar’s second division. The Moroccan defender’s experience in both domestic and continental football adds further depth to Berkane’s squad.

Tahif has completed his move to RS Berkane and is contracted to the club until June 2028.
