National Bank sign Nigerian teenager Boluwatife Ibukunoluwa on three-year deal

National Bank have completed the signing of 19-year-old Nigerian forward Boluwatife Ibukunoluwa from Grass Runners on a three-year contract during the current summer transfer window.

Ibukunoluwa passed his medical before completing the move, with the agreement now formally signed. The deal will keep the teenager at National Bank for three seasons.

The player joins from Nigerian club Grass Runners, which was established in 2024 in Ogun State. The club’s stated focus is identifying and developing young talent before helping players pursue opportunities with European, Arab and domestic clubs.

Ibukunoluwa becomes the latest young player to move from Grass Runners as National Bank prepare for the start of the 2026-27 Egyptian Premier League campaign.

National Bank finished last season third in the relegation group, collecting 48 points. They will begin their new league campaign against Abu Qir Fertilizers on Friday, 21 August.

The signing was completed on Wednesday, 12 August 2026, as clubs continue to strengthen their squads before the opening round of the Egyptian Premier League.

For National Bank, the arrival of Ibukunoluwa provides an addition to their squad ahead of a season that begins with a meeting against Abu Qir Fertilizers. The Nigerian teenager has signed for a fixed three-year period after completing the required medical examinations.

Grass Runners, founded in Ogun State in 2024, was created with an emphasis on youth scouting and player development. Its model is based on nurturing emerging footballers and promoting them towards professional opportunities in clubs in Europe, the Arab world and Nigeria.

The club’s role in developing young players has led to Ibukunoluwa’s move to National Bank, where he will now continue his career in Egyptian football.

National Bank’s first fixture of the 2026-27 Egyptian Premier League season is scheduled for Friday, 21 August, against Abu Qir Fertilizers. The club will enter the campaign after recording 48 points and finishing third in last season’s relegation group.

The agreement with Ibukunoluwa is for three seasons, and his medical clearance allowed the transfer to be completed during the ongoing summer window.
