Ceramica Cleopatra sign Egypt World Cup goalkeeper Mohamed Alaa from El Gouna

Ceramica Cleopatra have officially signed Mohamed Alaa from El Gouna during the current summer transfer window, bringing in the goalkeeper who was included in Egypt’s final squad for the 2026 World Cup.

The club announced the move on its official Facebook page with the message: “The World Cup octopus is here… Mohamed Alaa joins our team from El Gouna.”

The announcement confirms an agreement that had previously been reported between Ceramica Cleopatra and El Gouna for the transfer of Alaa. At the time, the goalkeeper was in the United States with Egypt’s squad for their participation in the 2026 World Cup.

Alaa was named in Egypt’s final World Cup squad in the goalkeeping position, and his performances for El Gouna during the previous campaign helped strengthen his reputation before the tournament.

The 26-year-old joined El Gouna in 2024 after moving from Al Qanah. He made 32 appearances for the club during the season that has just ended, keeping 14 clean sheets.

His arrival adds another goalkeeper to a Ceramica Cleopatra side that finished fourth in the Egyptian Premier League last season. That was the highest position in the club’s history and marked the first time they had ended a campaign in fourth place.

The transfer forms part of Ceramica Cleopatra’s preparations for the new season, with the club moving to secure the services of a goalkeeper who has established himself at both club and international level.

For El Gouna, Alaa’s departure brings an end to his spell at the club after two years. He joined in 2024 from Al Qanah and became a regular presence in goal, featuring 32 times in the most recent season and recording a clean sheet in nearly half of those appearances.

Ceramica Cleopatra confirmed the signing through their official social media channels but did not disclose financial details or the length of Alaa’s contract. The club’s announcement focused on his status as a World Cup goalkeeper and presented the move as a significant addition to their squad.
