Amine Gouiri set to stay at Marseille

Amine Gouiri is expected to remain at Olympique de Marseille, with the Algerian striker viewed as an important part of coach Bruno Genesio’s plans.

The forward joined Marseille during the 2024-25 season and has since become one of the club’s most valuable attacking assets.

Gouiri’s name has appeared in several transfer reports, including interest from Sevilla. However, Marseille are not actively seeking his departure and do not intend to weaken their squad simply to raise funds during the summer window.

The club has already been working to reduce its wage bill by moving on several senior players. Mason Greenwood, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Hamed Junior Traore have left, while Gerónimo Rulli, Facundo Medina and Pierre-Emile Højbjerg are also expected to depart. Despite those changes, Marseille want to keep Gouiri as their leading centre-forward.

A sale would only become realistic if another club submitted an offer worth more than €30 million. Such a fee could prove impossible to reject, providing owner Frank McCourt with significant funds and creating another major recruitment priority for Marseille.

Unless that valuation is met, Gouiri should stay at the Vélodrome and remain central to Genesio’s attacking project for the coming campaign.
