Karim Benzema linked with Real Madrid move after Al-Hilal switch

French-Algerian striker Karim Benzema, currently at Al-Hilal, has been linked with a move to Real Madrid in a rumour involving the Saudi Pro League and LaLiga clubs.

Benzema joined Al-Hilal from Saudi rivals Al-Ittihad on 2 February 2026, moving on a free transfer. He remains under contract with the club until 30 June 2027, with his current market value listed at €5m.

The 38-year-old spent 14 seasons at Real Madrid after joining from Lyon in 2009. During his time in Spain, he won the Champions League five times and claimed four LaLiga titles, while also earning the Ballon d’Or in 2022.

Benzema’s record in Saudi Arabia has remained notable. He has scored 47 goals in 74 Saudi Pro League appearances, while his honours in the country include the 2025 Saudi Pro League Player of the Year award and the Saudi championship with Al-Ittihad in the 2024-25 season.

He moved to Saudi Arabia in July 2023 after leaving Real Madrid as a free agent, before switching clubs within the league less than three years later.

The latest link places the veteran centre-forward back in connection with Real Madrid, although the rumour does not establish that a transfer has been agreed. Benzema’s existing Al-Hilal contract leaves him tied to the club for the 2026-27 season.
