South Africa U20 winner Tylon Smith attracts New England interest
South African defender Tylon Smith, currently with QPR U21, has been linked with a move to MLS club New England.
The 21-year-old centre-back joined QPR from Stellenbosch FC on 23 July 2025 and has since featured in the Championship and domestic cup competitions. Smith has made three Championship appearances, playing a total of 79 minutes, alongside three Premier League Cup appearances and one EFL Cup appearance.
The potential move would take Smith to the United States after his first season in the QPR system. New England are understood to be the club being linked with the defender, although the transfer remains at the rumour stage and no agreement has been confirmed.
Smith was part of the South Africa Under-20 side that won the Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations in 2025. He was also named Player of the Tournament during the 2024-25 campaign.
Born in Stellenbosch, Smith developed at Stellenbosch before moving to the English club. His current listed market value is €200,000.
Smith remains attached to QPR U21, where he is listed as a centre-back.
