Morocco face Cameroon in WAFCON semi-final showdown

Hosts Morocco will face Cameroon in the semi-finals of the 2026 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations at the Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat on Wednesday, 12 August, with a place in the final at stake.

The match, officially listed as the first semi-final of the tournament, is scheduled to kick off at 21:00 local time (20:00 GMT).

Morocco enter the last-four clash unbeaten and will be appearing in the semi-finals for the third consecutive edition of the competition.

The Atlas Lionesses secured their place in the semi-finals with a 2-1 victory over defending champions South Africa in the quarter-finals, maintaining their push for a maiden WAFCON title.

Coach Jorge Vilda’s side will also have the backing of a home crowd as they look to reach the final on Moroccan soil and take another step towards continental glory.

Cameroon, however, arrive in Rabat with renewed confidence after producing one of the tournament’s biggest upsets in the quarter-finals.

The Indomitable Lionesses defeated 10-time African champions Nigeria 1-0 in Casablanca to book their place in the last four. Myriam Maéva Nyadjou Wamen scored the decisive goal to send Cameroon through.

The semi-final will also have implications beyond the WAFCON title, with both Morocco and Cameroon having already secured qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil by reaching the last four.

With only one victory separating either side from a place in the final, the encounter is expected to be a closely fought contest.

Morocco will look to make the most of their home advantage and unbeaten run, while Cameroon will hope to build on the momentum gained from their impressive victory over Nigeria.

The winners will advance to the WAFCON final on 16 August, which will also be played at the Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat.
