Eyob Zambataro gives Novara a fresh midfield option in free move from Torres

Italy-Ethiopia midfielder Eyob Zambataro has joined Novara from Torres on a free transfer, strengthening the Serie C – A club’s options on the right side of midfield.

The 27-year-old has signed a contract with Novara that runs until 30 June 2028. He moves after two and a half years with Torres, having joined the club from Lecco in January 2024, also on a free transfer.

Zambataro is primarily a right midfielder and is comfortable using either foot. Born in Addis Ababa, he holds Italian and Ethiopian nationality and stands 1.76m tall.

His arrival takes him from Torres, who compete in Serie C – B, to Novara in Serie C – A. The move represents another step in a career that has included spells with several Italian clubs, including Atalanta, Monopoli, Ravenna, Lecco and Padova.

Zambataro began his senior-club pathway with Atalanta’s youth teams before joining Padova on loan in August 2017. During the 2017-18 campaign, he helped Padova win both the Supercoppa Serie C and the Italian third-tier championship.

He later returned to Atalanta before spending time on loan at Ravenna and Monopoli. A further loan move took him to Lecco in August 2021, and he subsequently joined that club permanently in July 2022. His switch to Torres followed in January 2024.

Novara’s signing adds a player with experience across Italy’s professional divisions and a record of moving between midfield roles. Zambataro’s ability to operate on the right and use both feet gives him a distinctive profile within the club’s squad.

The transfer was completed on 12 August 2026.
