Karpaty Lviv sign France and Ivory Coast striker Joseph Sery from Penafiel for €200k
France and Ivory Coast forward Joseph Sery has joined Karpaty Lviv from Penafiel for €200,000, strengthening the Ukrainian club’s attacking options ahead of the new Premier Liga campaign.
The 26-year-old centre-forward completed the move on 12 August 2026 after one season with Penafiel in Liga Portugal 2. Sery has signed a contract with Karpaty that runs until 30 June 2028.
Standing at 1.93m and favouring his left foot, Sery arrives with experience of football in Portugal, France, Luxembourg and Ukraine’s top flight. His move takes him from Penafiel to a Karpaty side competing in a different national league, with the transfer fee representing a step up from his previous market value of €275,000.
Sery joined Penafiel from Concarneau on 17 July 2025. His time at Concarneau followed a free transfer from FC Chamalieres in July 2024, continuing a series of moves through the lower levels of European football.
Before that, the forward played for Luxembourg club Etzella Ettelbruck, Blois Foot 41 and Angers SCO B. He began his senior career with Angers after coming through the club’s under-19 side, before moving to Blois in August 2021.
The striker now becomes part of Karpaty’s squad for the 2026-27 season, with the club securing his services from Penafiel for a fee of €200,000. Sery’s contract with Karpaty Lviv is valid until June 2028.
