Mouhamadou Sarr becomes a free agent after Spezia departure

Senegalese-Italian goalkeeper Mouhamadou Sarr has joined the ranks of unattached players after leaving Spezia Calcio.

The 29-year-old’s departure was completed on 12 August 2026, ending his time with the Serie C club. Sarr is now without a club after most recently playing for Spezia, where he had been under contract since completing a permanent move from Cremonese in July 2025.

Sarr initially joined Spezia on loan from Cremonese on 25 July 2024. That arrangement ended on 30 June 2025 before he returned to the club on a permanent transfer the following day for €200,000.

The goalkeeper had moved to Cremonese from Bologna in August 2021. Before that, he spent the 2020-21 campaign on loan at Ascoli, having begun his senior career within the Bologna system.

Sarr’s early career included a series of temporary moves in Italy. He joined Prato on loan during the 2017-18 season, followed by loan spells at Carrarese and AJ Fano in the 2018-19 campaign. He first progressed to Bologna’s senior setup from the club’s Under-19 side in July 2016, after starting out with Bologna Under-17s.

Born in Kaolack, Senegal, Sarr holds Senegalese and Italian nationality. He stands 1.90 metres tall and is a right-footed goalkeeper.

His move away from Spezia brings to a close a stay that followed an earlier loan spell at the club and a subsequent permanent transfer. It also leaves the experienced goalkeeper available for his next club after more than a decade in Italian football’s professional and academy structures.

Sarr’s market value is listed at €200,000, while the highest recorded value of his career is €400,000. His club record includes time with Bologna, Ascoli, Cremonese, Spezia, Prato, Carrarese and AJ Fano, with several of those moves completed on loan.

The goalkeeper’s latest transfer entry records Spezia as his previous club and his status as without a club from 12 August 2026.
