Brentford prepare improved £40m bid for West Ham defender El Hadji Malick Diouf

Brentford are preparing an improved offer of up to £40m (€46,835,400) for West Ham left-back El Hadji Malick Diouf, despite the London club previously insisting that the Senegal international was not for sale.

According to talkSPORT, Brentford remain determined to pursue the 21-year-old and are ready to make a significantly increased proposal. West Ham rejected an initial approach and made clear at the time that Diouf was not available for transfer.

Diouf joined West Ham from Slavia Prague in the summer of 2025 for a fee of about €22m. He made an immediate impression in England, featuring 34 times during his first season with the club.

His campaign came despite West Ham’s relegation to the Championship. The defender has established himself as an important part of the squad, and the club are understood to regard him as a key player for the season ahead as they attempt to return to the Premier League.

Diouf’s contract with West Ham runs until 30 June 2030. The length of that agreement gives the club a strong negotiating position, while his performances have increased interest in his availability. His current estimated market value is €28m.

A Senegal international, Diouf is particularly valued for his attacking qualities from the left side of defence. Those performances have also attracted attention from Manchester United in recent months, although Brentford are now seeking to make their interest concrete with an offer substantially above their first proposal.

It remains to be seen whether a bid worth as much as £40m will be enough to persuade West Ham to change their stance. The club’s position is complicated by their immediate objective of returning to the Premier League, with Diouf viewed as an important player in that effort.

Brentford are due to begin their English league campaign against Tottenham shortly. Betting company 1xbet lists Brentford at 2.25 to win the match, with a draw priced at 3.50 and a Tottenham victory at 2.70. The source article also refers to the option of downloading 1xbet.
