Senegal midfielder Alassane Sy joins FC Metz on four-year deal
Senegalese midfielder Alassane Sy has completed his move to French Ligue 2 side FC Metz, signing a four-season contract that will keep him at the club until June 2030.
The talented midfielder makes the move to France after developing at renowned Senegalese academy Génération Foot, which has produced several top talents for the European market.
Sy has now left the Senegalese professional league to begin a new chapter of his career in France, where he will continue his development with Metz in the French second tier.
The move also marks an important milestone in his young career as Sy has signed his first professional contract.
Having already impressed with his performances in Senegal, the midfielder will now look to adapt to the demands of European football and compete for a place in Metz’s first-team setup.
For Sy, the transfer represents the fulfilment of a long-standing ambition after spending his formative years at Génération Foot.
“I’m immensely proud to have signed for FC Metz. Ever since I joined Génération Foot, I’ve dreamt of joining the ‘Grenats’. Today, that dream has become a reality and I’m determined to give my all to help the team achieve its goals.”
The four-year agreement underlines Metz’s belief in the young Senegalese midfielder, who will be hoping to establish himself in France and continue his development at the club.
Sy’s move also continues the strong relationship between Génération Foot and European clubs, with the Senegalese academy continuing to serve as a pathway for promising young players seeking opportunities abroad.
