Ansu Fati praises Ligue 1 after Monaco revival

Ansu Fati has embraced life at AS Monaco after turning his loan move from Barcelona into a permanent transfer.

The Spanish forward says he is “very happy” in the Principality after an encouraging Ligue 1 campaign, during which he scored 11 goals in 25 appearances.

Fati’s strong form has helped revive his confidence after several difficult seasons affected by injuries and limited opportunities. Monaco provided the 23-year-old with regular football and a supportive environment, allowing him to rediscover the attacking instincts that made him one of Barcelona’s most exciting young talents.

The forward also used his interview with AS to challenge the perception that Ligue 1 lacks quality. He believes the French top flight deserves far more recognition internationally.

“People would be surprised by the level of Ligue 1. If you look at the English teams, they always recruit a lot of French players,” Fati explained.

He highlighted the physical demands of the competition, where speed and intensity are constant features. “It is a very physical league. Everyone runs, everyone is fast… It is a difficult league. Any player who has played in it will tell you,” he added.

Fati’s successful first season suggests Monaco could be the ideal place to rebuild his career.
