Justin Kumi leaves Sassuolo for season-long Juve Stabia loan

Italy-Ghana midfielder Justin Kumi has joined Juve Stabia from Sassuolo on a season-long loan, strengthening the Serie B club’s midfield options for the 2026-27 campaign.

The 22-year-old central midfielder moves to Juve Stabia on 11 August 2026 and is due to return to Sassuolo on 30 June 2027. No transfer fee has been disclosed for the loan.

Kumi spent the 2025-26 season with Avellino, also on loan from Sassuolo, before returning to his parent club at the end of June. He now moves to a second Serie B side, with Juve Stabia becoming the latest destination in a senior career that has included several temporary spells away from Sassuolo.

Born in Castelfranco Veneto, Kumi has Italian and Ghanaian nationality. He is a right-footed midfielder and came through the Sassuolo youth system after joining the club from Giorgione’s junior setup in 2018.

Kumi progressed through Sassuolo’s youth ranks, moving from the club’s youth side to the Under-17 team in 2020 and then to Sassuolo Under-20 in 2021. He entered the senior structure in July 2024, before beginning a run of loans designed around regular first-team football.

His first senior loan move took him to Reggiana in January 2025. He returned to Sassuolo that summer and then joined Avellino for the 2025-26 season, with that spell ending shortly before his switch to Juve Stabia.

The midfielder has won honours during his time in the Sassuolo system. He was part of Sassuolo’s second-tier title-winning squad in the 2024-25 season, after helping Sassuolo Primavera win the Italian youth championship in 2023-24. Earlier, he also won the Viareggio tournament with Sassuolo Under-18 in the 2021-22 season.

Juve Stabia will play in Serie B during the new campaign, while Sassuolo are listed as a Serie A club. Kumi’s move therefore keeps him in Italy’s professional league structure and gives him another season at second-tier level.

The loan agreement runs until 30 June 2027, when Kumi is scheduled to return to Sassuolo.
