Konyaspor make $4.25m bid for Al-Ahly and Egypt midfielder Emam Ashour

Turkish club Konyaspor have increased their offer for Egypt international Emam Ashour to $4.25m as they step up their attempts to sign the Al-Ahly midfielder this summer.

Journalist Ahmed Shobeir reported that Konyaspor remain determined to secure Ashour’s signature despite Al-Ahly insisting that no official offer has been received from the Turkish side.

Shobeir said the Turkish club had previously made lower bids for the midfielder before increasing their proposal to $4.25m.

Konyaspor insist offer has been sent

According to Shobeir, Al-Ahly maintain that they have not received an official bid and believe attempts are being made to create uncertainty around Ashour and disrupt the club.

Konyaspor, however, have rejected that position.

Shobeir quoted a member of the Turkish club’s board as confirming that the offer had been increased to $4.25m and urging Al-Ahly to check their official email to verify that the proposal had been received.

The Konyaspor official also indicated that the latest proposal would be the club’s final offer as they seek to complete a deal for the Egypt international.

‘A better celebration than Mohamed Salah’s’

Konyaspor’s interest goes beyond the financial proposal, with the Turkish club also promising a major welcome should Ashour complete the move.

A member of the club’s board reportedly said Konyaspor want to welcome the Egyptian midfielder and celebrate his arrival “in a better way than what happened with Mohamed Salah”.

Salah’s transfer to Trabzonspor generated considerable excitement in Turkey, with the Egypt captain receiving a high-profile public welcome following his arrival.

Konyaspor’s promise of an even bigger celebration underlines the level of interest surrounding Ashour and their determination to bring another Egyptian star to Turkey.

Ashour not keen on Gulf move

Shobeir also said Konyaspor have been closely monitoring Ashour’s situation during Al-Ahly’s training camp in Spain.

The Turkish club is reportedly following developments around the midfielder and is aware of his position regarding offers from clubs in the Gulf.

According to Shobeir, Ashour does not currently favour a move to the Gulf, potentially strengthening Konyaspor’s hopes of completing a deal if an agreement can be reached with Al-Ahly.

Al-Ahly want to keep their stars

Al-Ahly, meanwhile, remain determined to retain their key players during the current transfer window.

Shobeir said the Egyptian champions have no intention of allowing important members of their squad to leave unless they receive a huge financial offer that would be difficult to reject.

Ashour is among the players the club considers central to its plans, alongside Mostafa Shobeir, Yasser Ibrahim, Mohamed Hany and Marwan Attia.

With Konyaspor now presenting an improved $4.25m proposal, the next stage of the transfer saga will depend on whether Al-Ahly are prepared to consider the Turkish club’s latest approach.
