Morocco winger Couhaib Driouech closes in on £7m Rangers move

Morocco international Couhaib Driouech is close to completing a move from PSV Eindhoven to Scottish giants Rangers in a deal worth around £7m.

Rangers have reportedly reached an agreement with PSV after stepping up negotiations over the weekend, following the rejection of an earlier offer for the 24-year-old winger.

Driouech is expected to sign a four-year contract with the option of a further season once the final formalities of the transfer are completed.

Rangers beat competition

The Moroccan winger attracted interest from several European clubs during the summer, including Spanish side Celta Vigo and Premier League club Burnley.

Rangers, however, have emerged as the leading contenders and are now close to securing his signature.

Driouech’s absence from PSV’s squad for their weekend match against Fortuna Sittard has further increased expectations that he is on his way out of the Dutch club.

Rangers manager Derek McInnes is keen to add more attacking options to his squad, particularly on the wings, with Driouech identified as a priority target ahead of the new season.

Champions League experience

A move to Glasgow would give Driouech the opportunity to continue his European career after gaining valuable UEFA Champions League experience with PSV.

The Morocco international has already faced some of Europe’s biggest clubs in the competition and has scored against Premier League opposition, including Arsenal and Liverpool.

His experience at the highest level of European club football is expected to strengthen Rangers’ attacking options as they prepare for the new campaign.

For Moroccan football, the potential move represents another opportunity for one of the country’s internationals to take on a prominent role at a European club, with Driouech now on the verge of beginning a new chapter in Scotland.
