Southampton sign England and DR Congo forward Divin Mubama from Man City Under-21s on loan

England and DR Congo forward Divin Mubama has joined Southampton from Manchester City Under-21s on loan, completing a move that takes the 21-year-old centre-forward into the Championship.

Mubama’s transfer was completed on 11 August 2026, with Southampton becoming his current club after his spell with City’s Under-21 side in Premier League 2. The move is a loan deal, with no transfer fee stated.

Born in London, Mubama is eligible to represent both England and the Democratic Republic of Congo. He is 1.83m tall and favours his left foot, while his primary position is centre-forward.

The striker spent the 2025-26 season with Manchester City Under-21s, having joined the club after coming through the academy system at West Ham United. His time at West Ham included success in the 2022-23 UEFA Conference League, while he also helped the club’s Under-18 side win the English FA Youth Cup during the same campaign.

Mubama was the leading scorer in that FA Youth Cup run, finishing with eight goals. He later helped Manchester City Under-21s win the Premier League 2 title in the 2024-25 season.

His honours also include the Conference League, the Premier League 2 title and the FA Youth Cup. The Southampton move gives him a new club after his development at two Premier League academies and places him in the Championship for the 2026-27 campaign.

Mubama’s Southampton contract is due to run until 30 June 2027. He joins a club competing in the Championship after leaving Manchester City Under-21s, where he had been playing in England’s Under-21 league structure.

The completed loan transfer was registered on 11 August 2026, with Mubama now part of Southampton’s squad.
