Arthur Masuaku returns to Turkish Super Lig with Konyaspor
Arthur Masuaku has ended his spell in English football and officially sealed a return to the Turkish Super Lig, signing a two-year contract with Konyaspor.
The 32-year-old Democratic Republic of the Congo international joins the club after a spell with Sunderland. His move brings him back to a competition he already knows well, following his successful time with Besiktas.
Masuaku is expected to add experience to Konyaspor’s squad, as well as the physical presence and crossing ability that have defined his game. The left-back’s arrival gives the club an established option on the flank as it prepares for the new season.
Konyaspor’s decision to recruit Masuaku also reunites him with a fellow Congolese international. Jackson Muleka is already part of the club, meaning the pair will now work together at club level as well as representing their country.
Their partnership offers Konyaspor a promising Congolese connection, with Masuaku providing experience and quality from the left side while Muleka contributes to the attacking force. The club will hope that combination can help strengthen both its attacking play and its work on the left flank this season.
For Masuaku, the move represents a return to familiar surroundings after his time in England. He is already experienced in Turkish football through his spell at Besiktas, where he built a successful relationship with the demands of the Super Lig.
That previous experience should allow him to settle quickly into his new surroundings at Konyaspor. The club will benefit from a player who has already adapted to Turkish football and who now returns to the league with another opportunity to make an impact.
His two-season commitment confirms Konyaspor’s intention to make use of his experience over the longer term. At 32, Masuaku brings seniority to the squad, while his physical qualities and ability to deliver crosses provide further options for the team.
The move also closes the immediate chapter of his English career. Following his time at Sunderland, Masuaku will now continue his career in Turkey, where he previously enjoyed success with Besiktas.
Konyaspor’s green-and-white team therefore gains an experienced left-back and an international player familiar with the league. Alongside Muleka, Masuaku will form part of a new Congolese duo at the club, with both players hoping to make a significant contribution during the coming season.
