Ismaila Soro: Ivorian midfielder linked with Al-Zawraa move

Ismaila Soro, the 28-year-old Ivorian midfielder currently without a club, has been linked with a move to Al-Zawraa SC in Iraq’s Stars League.

Soro plays as a defensive midfielder and is right-footed. The potential move would see him join Al-Zawraa after becoming unattached in the summer, with the rumour recorded on 11 August 2026.

The player’s listed market value is €600,000. No transfer has been confirmed, and there is no indication that an agreement has been reached between Soro and the Iraqi club.

Soro previously played for Celtic, helping the Scottish club win the league title in the 2021-22 season. He also won the Scottish League Cup during the same campaign and the Scottish Cup in 2019-20. Earlier in his career, he won the Israeli Cup with Bnei Yehuda Tel Aviv in 2018-19.

Born in Yakasse-Me-Agou, Soro represents Ivory Coast at international level and stands 1.76m tall. His playing profile is centred on the defensive midfield position, where he has spent the majority of his career.

Al-Zawraa are the club currently linked with the midfielder, but the reported interest remains at rumour stage. Soro’s current status is that of an unattached player, giving him the ability to consider a move to the Iraq Stars League without an existing club contract.
