Ansu Fati opens up on Barcelona exit and Monaco move

Ansu Fati has opened up about the emotional difficulty of leaving Barcelona after 15 years, while insisting he is now fully focused on building a fresh chapter at Monaco.

The forward joined Barcelona as a child and spent most of his footballing life at the Catalan club before Monaco made his transfer permanent for €11 million.

“When I signed with Monaco, I had a feeling of sadness and another of happiness at the same time,” Fati told AS. “I spent many years at Barca and I leave many friends and people who work at La Masia.”

The 23-year-old admitted that the first days after his departure were especially challenging. “The first days were sad, but that is life. You have to accept what comes and keep looking forward,” he said.

Fati also reflected on the injuries that disrupted his progress at Barcelona. “I have had many injuries. It is life and I accept it. I am happy with everything that happened to me at the club, with everything I experienced.”

Now, his ambitions are straightforward: “I want to continue working, play and be available for almost every match.”
