Ousmane Dembele targets UEFA Super Cup with PSG
Ousmane Dembele has made a fast start to Paris Saint-Germain’s new season, cutting short his summer break to prepare for two major matches in five days.
The 2025 Ballon d’Or winner is determined to be available for PSG’s UEFA Super Cup meeting with Aston Villa and the Trophee des Champions.
PSG face Aston Villa in Salzburg on Wednesday before travelling to Lens for the Trophee des Champions on Sunday. Dembele returned to France last Wednesday, a full week before the European fixture, and has been following an individual programme to accelerate his return to match fitness.
The forward’s decision reflects his desire to begin the campaign by adding immediately to PSG’s trophy collection. However, manager Luis Enrique is expected to manage his minutes carefully because several international players returned late after the World Cup and had only around three weeks of rest.
Dembele is not certain to play the full 90 minutes in either game, but his early return has sent a clear message about his motivation. PSG are coming off a historic season, yet the French international is showing no sign of complacency as he prepares for another demanding campaign.
