Wydad one step away from signing Al Ahly and Morocco defender Achraf Dari
Morocco international Achraf Dari is close to returning to Wydad Athletic Club from Egyptian giants Al Ahly during the current summer transfer window.
Sources familiar with the negotiations say Wydad have made significant progress towards completing a deal for the defender after convincing him to return to the Moroccan club.
The two sides are now reportedly working towards finalising the transfer in the coming hours.
Dari set for loan return
Dari is expected to join Wydad on loan, with the Moroccan club set to contribute towards the defender’s salary at Al Ahly.
The proposed move would see the Morocco international return to a club he knows well as Wydad look to strengthen their squad with an experienced defender.
Negotiations are understood to be at an advanced stage, with the final details of the agreement still being completed.
Al Ahly looking to resolve Dari situation
Al Ahly are also keen to find a solution for Dari as they attempt to reorganise their squad during the transfer window.
The Egyptian club wants to remove the defender’s name from its list of professional players, which would create space for another player in the squad.
A move to Wydad would therefore provide a solution for both clubs, allowing Dari to return to Morocco while giving Al Ahly greater flexibility with their squad registration.
With negotiations reportedly nearing completion, Dari could soon be on his way back to Wydad as the Casablanca club moves closer to securing one of its notable summer additions.
