Daniel-Kofi Kyereh joins VfL Osnabruck after Freiburg spell

Ghanaian-German attacking midfielder Daniel-Kofi Kyereh has joined VfL Osnabruck from Freiburg on a free transfer, bringing Bundesliga experience to the 2. Bundesliga club.

Kyereh, 30, completed the move on 10 August 2026 and will continue his career in Germany after leaving Freiburg. He plays primarily as an attacking midfielder and is right-footed.

The move takes Kyereh from a club in Germany’s top division to Osnabruck, who compete in the country’s second tier. His arrival adds an experienced player to Osnabruck’s midfield options, with the former Freiburg man able to operate in an advanced role.

Born in Accra, Kyereh holds Ghanaian and German nationality. His background includes early development in the German game, with VfL Wolfsburg’s Under-19 side among the clubs he represented before moving into senior football.

Kyereh was part of the Wolfsburg Under-19 team that won the German Under-19 Bundesliga North/North-east title in the 2013-14 season. He later helped SV Wehen Wiesbaden win the Hessen Cup in 2018-19, giving him honours from both youth and senior football in Germany.

His switch to Osnabruck marks a return to the club’s league, where his experience at the highest level of German domestic football provides additional context to the move. The midfielder’s career has included appearances across different stages of the German football system, from academy competition to the Bundesliga.

Osnabruck have secured the player without a transfer fee, while no contract end date has been disclosed. Kyereh’s market value is listed at €100,000, although that figure does not represent a fee paid for the move.
