Nigeria striker Oche Ochowechi has joined Ellas Syros from Chania on a free transfer
Oche Ochowechi has completed his move to Ellas Syros, becoming the latest Nigerian forward to join the Greek club from Chania on a free transfer.
The 24-year-old centre-forward signed for Ellas Syros on 10 August 2026 and has agreed a contract running until 30 June 2027. The deal takes him to a club competing in Greece’s Super League 2.
Ochowechi arrives after his time with Chania, another Greek club. No transfer fee was paid for the move, with the forward switching clubs without a fee.
Born in Benue State, Nigeria, Ochowechi is listed at 1.79 metres and operates primarily through the centre of the attack. He is naturally right-footed and joins Ellas Syros with the role of centre-forward established as his main position.
His arrival gives Ellas Syros another attacking option as the club prepares for its Super League 2 campaign. The move also keeps Ochowechi in Greek football after his spell with Chania.
Ochowechi’s contract with his new club begins on the date of the transfer and extends through the end of June 2027. His move was completed on 10 August, making Ellas Syros his latest club.
The transfer represents a direct change within the Greek game for the Nigerian forward, who has moved from Chania to Ellas Syros rather than leaving the country. His nationality and central attacking role distinguish him within the club’s squad, while his right-footed profile provides clarity on the position he is expected to occupy.
Ellas Syros have secured the forward’s services without a transfer payment, and the agreement gives the club control of his registration for the 2026-27 season and the campaign that follows until the contract’s expiry.
Ochowechi’s arrival is therefore both a change of club and a continuation of his career in Greece. The 24-year-old has now formally switched from Chania to Ellas Syros, where he is contracted until 30 June 2027.
