FIFA lifts Al-Madina registration ban after Ali Al-Amri and Otto John cases resolved

FIFA has officially lifted a registration ban imposed on Libyan club Al-Madina following the resolution of cases involving creditors Ali Al-Amri and Otto John.

The decision brings an end to the proceedings linked to the outstanding disputes and clears the club to register new players in relation to the cases concerned.

In a letter dated 7 August 2026 and addressed to Al-Madina Club, FIFA’s Disciplinary Department confirmed that the proceedings had been closed after receiving correspondence from the creditor requesting the removal of the registration restriction.

“The present proceedings against the Respondent are now closed,” FIFA stated in the letter, adding that the registration ban previously imposed on Al-Madina had been permanently lifted in connection with the matter.

FIFA also instructed the Libyan Football Federation to immediately remove the relevant ban imposed on Al-Madina at national level.

The development is a significant boost for the Libyan club, which had been restricted from registering players as a result of the disputes.

However, FIFA made clear that the decision is limited to the specific case concerned and should not be interpreted as removing any other registration bans that may be imposed on Al-Madina.

The governing body specifically clarified that the lifting of the restriction relates only to the cases covered by the decision and carries no prejudice to any other registration ban that could remain in force against the club.

The resolution therefore allows Al-Madina to move forward from the disputes involving Ali Al-Amri and Otto John, while the club must still ensure that any separate outstanding FIFA matters are addressed before they can be removed.
