Algeria international Hicham Boudaoui has emerged as a transfer target for Spanish side Villarreal, who are exploring the possibility of signing the Nice midfielder this summer.

The 26-year-old has attracted interest from the La Liga club as they look to strengthen their midfield ahead of the new season.

According to Foot Mercato, Villarreal have made initial enquiries about Boudaoui’s situation at Nice and are assessing whether a deal can be completed during the current transfer window.

Villarreal eye midfield partnership

Villarreal believe Boudaoui could complement Senegal international Pape Gueye in midfield if the Algerian completes a move to Spain.

The Spanish club are reportedly attracted by the qualities of the Nice midfielder and see him as a player capable of adding strength and balance to their midfield options.

A move to Villarreal would give Boudaoui an opportunity to continue his career in one of Europe’s major leagues after six years in France.

Established figure at Nice

Boudaoui joined Nice in 2019 and has since become an experienced member of the French club’s squad.

He has made 207 appearances for Nice and scored 14 goals during his time with the club.

His performances have also earned him a regular place in the Algeria national team, for whom he has won 37 international caps.

Boudaoui remains under contract with Nice until the summer of 2027, meaning Villarreal would have to reach an agreement with the French club if they are to complete a transfer this summer.

Algeria international faces potential La Liga move

Foot Mercato reports that Villarreal have already begun exploring the midfielder’s availability as they consider strengthening their squad.

For Boudaoui, a move to Spain would represent another significant step in a career that began in Algeria before taking him to French football.

The possibility of joining Villarreal would also give the Algeria international the chance to test himself in La Liga and potentially form a midfield partnership with Senegal’s Gueye.

For now, Villarreal’s interest remains at the enquiry stage, but Boudaoui’s profile has placed him firmly on the Spanish club’s radar during the summer transfer window.
