Petrojet Assiut sign Zamalek defender Ahmed Magdy on three-year deal

Newly promoted Egyptian Premier League side Petrojet Assiut have strengthened their squad ahead of the upcoming season with the signing of Zamalek defender Ahmed Magdy.

The defender has completed a move to Petrojet Assiut during the current summer transfer window as the club prepares for its return to Egypt’s top flight after a lengthy absence.

Magdy joins the newly promoted side on a three-year contract, with the transfer completed as a free agent after Zamalek decided to part ways with the defender.

His exit came after Zamalek’s board, led by president Hussein Labib, decided that the player was no longer part of the club’s plans and opted to release him.

The decision allowed Magdy to negotiate with other clubs as a free agent, eventually leading to his move to Petrojet Assiut.

The three-year contract gives the defender an opportunity to establish himself at a new club while also helping Petrojet prepare for the challenges of Premier League football.

The Cairo-based club have scheduled a series of friendly matches as part of their preparations, beginning with a meeting against Plastic on Tuesday, August 11.

They will then face Orange on Thursday, August 13, before concluding the planned friendly programme against Modern Sport on August 16.

Magdy’s departure means Zamalek will have to continue assessing their defensive options during the pre-season period, while the defender will begin a new chapter of his career with Petrojet Assiut.
