Tanta sign Farid Shawky ahead of new Professional League season

Tanta have announced the signing of Farid Shawky as they continue to strengthen their squad during the current transfer window ahead of the new season.

The club did not disclose the length of the contract agreed with the midfielder, who joins as part of Tanta’s preparations for their forthcoming Professional League campaign.

Tanta confirmed the deal on Sunday and welcomed Shawky to the club, wishing him success during the next stage of his career. His arrival is one of a number of moves the club are making to add new players before the start of the season.

The signing gives Tanta a player with considerable experience of Egyptian football. Shawky spent seven seasons with Al Masry, making 246 appearances for the Port Said club. During that time, he scored two goals and provided 12 assists.

He later represented Tala’ea El Gaish, where he played 70 matches and registered one assist.

Tanta have not provided further details about the financial terms of the deal or the duration of Shawky’s stay. The club’s announcement focused on his arrival and its wider recruitment plans as they prepare to compete in the Professional League next season.

The move marks the latest chapter in Shawky’s career after his long spell with Al Masry and subsequent time at Tala’ea El Gaish. His record of 316 appearances across the two clubs means he brings substantial match experience to a Tanta squad being reshaped during the transfer period.
