Me Augustin Senghor, the president of the Senegalese football federation, expressed his dissatisfaction with the Lions’ (Senegal) 3-1 defeat against the Elephants (Ivory Coast) on Saturday at the Félicia stadium in Abidjan. He lamented the lackluster performance of the team, stating, “If they had beaten us, even though we tried everything and tried everything, we would have found nothing to complain about. But for this kind of defeat, it’s sad.”
Senghor criticized the players, describing them as not putting in enough effort: “The Lions did not wet the jersey. Better still, most of our players who call themselves professionals were only a shadow of themselves during this match.” Despite the disappointment, Senghor urged hope and optimism for the upcoming return leg on November 16, emphasizing the need for the team to bounce back and secure a victory.
