Zamalek exclude four players from first-team plans ahead of 2026/27 Season

Zamalek have informed four young players that they are no longer part of the club’s first-team plans ahead of the 2026/27 football season as the Egyptian giants continue preparations for a demanding campaign.

The Cairo-based club has decided to leave Anas Wael, Ayman Amir Abdel Aziz, Ahmed Magdy and Abdel Rahman Kamal out of the senior squad under head coach Moataz Gamal.

According to reports, Zamalek officials communicated the decision directly to the players, informing them that they will not be included in the first-team setup for the upcoming season.

The move forms part of the club’s squad planning process as the technical staff continue assessing the available players and shaping a team capable of competing across multiple competitions.

Zamalek have been conducting intensive preparations ahead of the new campaign, with the squad currently holding group training sessions at the club’s stadium in the New Capital as part of a closed training camp.

Zamalek are scheduled to take part in the Egyptian Premier League, Egypt Cup, Egypt Capital Cup, Egyptian Super Cup and the prestigious CAF Champions League.

The club’s management has been working to build a balanced squad capable of handling the demands of competing on different fronts, leading to a number of decisions regarding player retention and squad composition.

The exclusion of the four youngsters is part of the technical staff’s wider evaluation process as the club looks to focus on players considered capable of contributing immediately to first-team objectives.

Meanwhile, Zamalek have also turned their attention to their CAF Champions League campaign, where they have learned their opponents for the preliminary stages of Africa’s premier club competition.

The draw for the first preliminary round has placed Zamalek against AS Port, the champions of Djibouti.

The first-leg matches of the opening preliminary round are scheduled to take place between September 4 and 6, while the return fixtures will be played between September 11 and 13.

Should Zamalek overcome AS Port, they will advance to the second preliminary round, where they will face the winner of the tie between the champions of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda’s APR FC.

The Egyptian giants will be aiming to make a strong return to continental competition and challenge for the CAF Champions League title, a trophy they have won multiple times in their history.

With the new season approaching, head coach Moataz Gamal and his technical staff are focused on creating a competitive squad capable of meeting the club’s expectations both domestically and in Africa.
