Morocco star Sofyan Amrabat pushes for Real Betis return

Moroccan international Sofyan Amrabat remains fully committed to securing a return to Spanish side Real Betis this summer, with the midfielder reportedly making the Andalusian club his preferred destination despite interest from elsewhere.

The transfer saga has become one of the most closely watched involving a Moroccan player during the current transfer window, as negotiations between Real Betis and Turkish giants Fenerbahçe continue to face significant financial hurdles.

According to reports, Betis manager Manuel Pellegrini has personally identified Amrabat as a priority target and is eager to bring the experienced midfielder back to the club following his successful loan spell last season. The Chilean tactician views the Morocco international as a crucial piece in his plans for the 2026/27 campaign and believes his familiarity with the squad and tactical system would allow him to make an immediate impact.

Despite Pellegrini’s desire to reunite with the player, Betis remain unwilling to meet Fenerbahçe’s current valuation. The Turkish club is reportedly demanding between €15 million and €20 million for the midfielder, a figure that the Spanish outfit considers excessive given its financial limitations.

As a result, Betis officials are refusing to submit a definitive offer unless Fenerbahçe either lowers its asking price significantly or agrees to structure the deal as another loan move with an option to buy.

The 30-year-old midfielder is said to be prioritizing a return to La Liga above all other opportunities and has informed those close to him that he wants to continue his career at Real Betis. Having spent the previous campaign on loan at the club, Amrabat enjoyed a positive experience in Seville and believes he can play an important role in the team’s future ambitions.

It is said the Moroccan international is so determined to complete the move that he has no interest in entertaining alternative proposals, even from Saudi Arabian clubs willing to offer substantially higher wages.

Several clubs from the Saudi Pro League have reportedly expressed interest in signing the former Fiorentina and Manchester United midfielder, but Amrabat’s preference remains firmly fixed on returning to Spain.

As per reports, the midfielder has already reached an agreement with Real Betis regarding personal terms, removing one of the major hurdles in the negotiations.

Club officials had hoped to generate a healthy profit from a summer sale, but no club has yet come forward with an offer matching their valuation.

At the same time, Betis officials are actively working to reshape their squad and reduce the wage bill in order to create the financial flexibility required to complete the transfer.
