Malick Fofana in Leipzig’s sights after Diomande to Real Madrid

RB Leipzig’s blockbuster sale of Yan Diomande to Real Madrid is set to reshape the market for Malick Fofana and could hand OL a major financial boost.

The German club has agreed a deal worth up to 140 million euros, including bonuses, for the Ivorian winger.

With Diomande’s departure now all but sealed, Leipzig have already turned to his replacement. Among the names on their shortlist, Malick Fofana stands out as a leading option to occupy the left side of their attack next season. Journalist Sacha Tavolieri reports that Diomande will undergo his medical at Real Madrid later this week, with a five-year contract ready, while Leipzig weigh moves for Fofana and Chemsedine Talbi.

The sheer size of the Madrid deal changes the equation for Lyon. Every club in Europe knows Leipzig have cash to spend and will likely raise their asking prices accordingly.

Fofana’s current market value is estimated around 30 million euros and his contract runs until June 2028, giving OL strong leverage. If Leipzig make him a priority, Lyon can realistically hope for a premium fee rather than settling for the baseline valuation.
