Ivory Coast defender Kouakou Kouame weighing offers after FC Arbon 05 exit
Free-agent Ivory Coast defender Kouakou Yves Ange Junior Kouame is attracting interest from clubs in Switzerland and France as he considers the next destination in his career following his departure from FC Arbon 05.
The 21-year-old is currently assessing several opportunities after leaving the Swiss club and is expected to make a decision during the summer transfer window.
A number of teams have already expressed interest as the young defender looks to continue his development.
Among the clubs monitoring Kouame are Swiss sides FC Klingnau, FC Besa Biel/Bienne and FC Locarno. Interest has also emerged from France, where FC Nueillaubiers and several Régional 1 clubs have made inquiries about his availability.
Although the defender remains open to extending his stay in Switzerland, practical challenges have complicated that possibility.
Housing arrangements for players without professional status have become one of the main obstacles to completing a move within the country.
A source close to the player explained the situation.
“In Switzerland, there’s a problem with housing, as the player isn’t yet a professional. In France, several clubs at the R1 level have also made him offers.”
The difficulties surrounding accommodation have prompted Kouame to carefully evaluate all of the options available to him before committing to his next club.
France has emerged as an attractive destination because of the opportunities being presented, while Switzerland continues to appeal due to the familiarity and stability it could provide after his previous experience there.
At this stage, the defender is taking time to compare the various proposals before making a final decision. Rather than rushing into a move, Kouame is understood to be focused on choosing the environment that offers the best platform for his long-term development.
His status as a free agent has made him an appealing option for clubs looking to strengthen their squads without paying a transfer fee, while his age means he remains a player with significant room for further progress.
As the transfer window continues, interest in the Ivorian is expected to remain strong. Whether his next destination is in Switzerland or France, Kouame’s priority is to secure regular playing opportunities and continue building his career after leaving FC Arbon 05.
For now, discussions with interested clubs remain ongoing, with the young defender expected to decide his future only after carefully assessing which project best aligns with his ambitions.
