Ivory Coast star Yan Diomande closes in on €125m Real Madrid move
Real Madrid are close to completing the signing of Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig after the two clubs reached a breakthrough agreement over one of the summer’s biggest transfers.
German journalist Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sport Germany reported on Wednesday that the deal is on the verge of being finalised, with only the final formalities remaining before the transfer is officially completed.
The move would see Diomande join one of the biggest clubs in world football after an impressive rise with Leipzig and the Ivory Coast national team.
Real Madrid agree huge financial package
Plettenberg revealed that the guaranteed value of the agreement is €125 million, with performance-related bonuses potentially increasing the fee.
According to the report, the transfer could rise to €135 million if realistic targets are achieved, while the overall value could reach €140 million if all additional bonuses linked to more difficult conditions are activated.
” A major breakthrough! Real Madrid and Leipzig are on the verge of completing the transfer of Yann Diomande,” Plettenberg wrote on his X account.
He added:
“Exclusive details: The guaranteed financial value of the deal is 125 million euros. With the addition of realistic bonuses, the value is expected to rise to 135 million euros, while the total value may reach 140 million euros, if all the bonuses associated with difficult-to-achieve conditions are met.”
Former club set for financial reward
The report also revealed that Leganés, Diomande’s former club, will benefit financially from the transfer.
Plettenberg stated that the Spanish side will receive around five percent of the player’s transfer profits based on the agreement between the clubs.
The final paperwork is now expected to be completed before Real Madrid officially announce the arrival of the Ivorian winger.
Diomande’s African rise continues
Diomande has enjoyed a rapid rise over the past year, impressing for RB Leipzig before making a major impact on the international stage.
The winger produced strong performances for Ivory Coast during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2026 FIFA World Cup, further increasing his reputation as one of Africa’s most exciting young talents.
A move to Real Madrid would represent another major milestone in Diomande’s career and underline the growing influence of African players at the highest level of world football.
