Renowned Egyptian international referee, Jihad Greisha, has commended the performance of Egyptian referees in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations, stating that Mohamed Marouf officiated an exceptionally remarkable match.

Additionally, referee Amin Omar managed two highly distinguished matches, while Mohamed Adel showcased splendid officiating skills.

Greisha also acknowledged Mahmoud Ashour, who officiated seven matches, including today’s encounter between Cape Verde and South Africa, expressing, “All the Egyptian referees have brought honor, and their performances are respectable.”

In a recent appearance on the “CAN 2023” program broadcasted on Al-Qahira Al-Ikhbariya channel, Greisha predicted the selection of an Egyptian refereeing team for the last four matches of the Africa Cup of Nations, whether in the semi-finals, the third-place play-off, or the final.

He stated, “I expect that an Egyptian refereeing team will be chosen for one of these matches, and their performance will be commendable.”

Regarding the red card incidents in the Ivory Coast vs. Mali match, Greisha affirmed the correctness of the first red card and explained that the second red card resulted from a player from Ivory Coast removing his shirt in celebration of a goal, receiving his second yellow card and subsequently a red card.

He emphasized that the Egyptian referee managed this match exceptionally well.
