Al-Nassr ready to part with Nawaf Al-Aqidi in deal involving Al-Fateh players and cash

Al-Nassr have put Saudi Arabia goalkeeper Nawaf Al-Aqidi up for sale during the current summer transfer window, with Al-Fateh in advanced discussions over a deal that could include two players and a financial payment.

The proposed agreement would see Al-Nassr receive money from Al-Fateh, as well as goalkeeper Abdulhadi Al-Alwan and right-back Saeed Baattiah in exchange for Al-Aqidi.

Negotiations between the two Saudi Pro League clubs are understood to have reached an advanced stage, with the deal expected to be completed in the next few days before an official announcement.

The development follows reports of growing tension between Al-Nassr and Al-Aqidi, who is believed to be seeking a move in order to play more regularly during the forthcoming season.

According to Saudi newspaper Okaz, Al-Nassr told Al-Aqidi’s representative that the club did not intend to renew the goalkeeper’s contract during a meeting at the team’s training camp in Lisbon, Portugal.

Al-Fateh are seeking to secure a permanent transfer for the 26-year-old, having previously signed him on loan for the second half of the 2024-25 season. The club is now in a position to bring the goalkeeper back on a full-time basis if the negotiations are concluded as expected.

Al-Aqidi is a product of the Al-Nassr academy and was promoted to the first-team squad in 2019. However, he has been unable to establish himself as the club’s undisputed number one and has spent time away from the team on loan.

He joined Al-Tai on loan in 2022 before moving to Al-Fateh in 2025. At the beginning of last season, Al-Aqidi started as Al-Nassr’s first-choice goalkeeper, but he later lost his place after a number of errors.

Those mistakes included incidents during matches against Al-Qadsiah and Al-Hilal in the Roshn Saudi League. He subsequently spent more time on the substitutes’ bench as the club changed its goalkeeping options.

Al-Aqidi also lost his place as Saudi Arabia’s first-choice goalkeeper after making mistakes in a friendly against Egypt in March. Experienced goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Owais then took over for the Saudi national team and is expected to defend the “Green Falcons” goal at the 2026 World Cup instead of Al-Aqidi.

The proposed transfer would therefore bring an end to Al-Aqidi’s time at the club where he developed, while giving Al-Fateh the opportunity to retain a goalkeeper who already spent part of the previous campaign with them. No official confirmation of the agreement has yet been issued, but the negotiations are reportedly close to completion.
