Leon Hien joins Tromso on loan after limited minutes at Djurgarden

Leon Hien’s search for regular first-team football will continue in Norway, after Djurgarden confirmed the defender has joined Tromso on loan for the rest of the season.

Hien has struggled to secure a permanent spot in Djurgarden’s starting lineup, making just five Allsvenskan appearances, with only one start since arriving from Degerfors.

Djurgården’s football director Maximilian Hahn praised Hien’s attitude during a difficult spell disrupted by injuries. “Leon has shown fantastic professionalism during a challenging period with a couple of injury setbacks, and we are grateful for the level he has maintained every day,” Hahn told the club’s website.

He explained that the move is designed to help Hien regain match rhythm and earn the consistent minutes he needs to reach his full potential.

Hien began his youth career with local club Djursholm before joining Hammarby IF’s academy in 2019. He made his senior debut on loan with IK Frej in Division 1 Norra in 2020, playing 11 games and registering 2 goals and 2 assists. Returning to Hammarby, he featured for Hammarby TFF between 2021 and 2022, making 12 appearances and scoring once while evolving from forward to defender.

Now, a fresh environment in Tromso offers Hien a chance to relaunch his trajectory and prove himself at a competitive level.
