Egyptian League clubs face tougher sanctions for collective abuse in 2026-27 season

The Egyptian Football Association’s Competitions Committee has approved tougher penalties for collective abuse by supporters during the 2026-27 Egyptian League season, with punishments increasing each time the offence is repeated.

The regulations, which cover disciplinary measures for the upcoming campaign, include substantial fines and restrictions on supporters attending matches. FilGoal.com obtained a copy of the section dealing specifically with crowd sanctions and collective abuse.

Under the new scale, clubs whose supporters are found to have collectively used abusive language will face a fine of 100,000 Egyptian pounds for a first offence.

A second offence will bring a fine of 150,000 Egyptian pounds, together with a ban on those present from attending one match.

If the offence occurs for a third time, the penalty will increase to a 200,000 Egyptian pound fine and a two-match ban for those present.

The fourth offence will result in a match being played behind closed doors, as well as a fine of 250,000 Egyptian pounds.

For a fifth offence, the club will be ordered to play two matches without supporters and fined 250,000 Egyptian pounds.

A sixth offence will carry the same two-match behind-closed-doors punishment, but the fine will rise to 300,000 Egyptian pounds.

The measures form part of the regulations established by the Competitions Committee for the 2026-27 Egyptian League season. They show a graduated approach, with the consequences becoming more severe when collective abuse is repeated.

The first two stages focus on financial penalties, with the second offence also affecting supporter attendance. A third offence extends that attendance restriction to two matches, while the fourth and subsequent stages move to matches being played without a crowd.

The committee has therefore set out six separate levels of punishment, beginning with a 100,000 Egyptian pound fine and ending with a 300,000 Egyptian pound fine plus two matches behind closed doors.
