Liverpool receive Ibrahim Mbaye’s approval as Paris Saint-Germain winger weighs summer move

Liverpool have received the go-ahead from Paris Saint-Germain winger Ibrahim Mbaye over a possible move to Anfield this summer, according to reports from Fabrice Hawkins.

The 18-year-old Senegal international is understood to be enthusiastic about joining the Reds, who are looking to strengthen their options on the right side of their attack ahead of next season.

Liverpool are expected to begin discussions with Paris Saint-Germain shortly. Mbaye has reportedly already given his approval to the proposed move, although negotiations between the two clubs have yet to start.

Hawkins also confirms Liverpool’s interest in Bradley Barcola, another Paris Saint-Germain winger. The Premier League club is therefore monitoring more than one attacking option from the French side as it considers changes to its squad.

Mbaye was developed at Paris Saint-Germain and has already attracted attention for his pace and ability to beat opponents. His potential departure would represent another setback for the Paris club, which is already under pressure in the transfer market.

The Senegalese player remains under contract with Paris Saint-Germain until 30 June 2028. His market value is estimated at 30 million euros by Transfermarkt, while he earns 910,000 euros a year at the French club, equivalent to 591,500,000 FCFA.

Mbaye’s future could now be decided in the Premier League, with Liverpool’s interest developing ahead of the summer transfer window. While his agreement is believed to have encouraged the English club, a formal deal will depend on talks with Paris Saint-Germain and the terms eventually agreed between the two clubs.

For Liverpool, the pursuit forms part of efforts to reinforce the right flank. For Mbaye, a move to Anfield would offer the opportunity to continue his development in English football after progressing through the Paris Saint-Germain academy.

Paris Saint-Germain must now consider whether to retain one of its promising young attacking players or respond to Liverpool’s interest. With Mbaye tied to the club for a further two years beyond the current season, the French side would hold a strong contractual position should negotiations begin.
