Al-Ittihad monitor Senegal midfielder Dion Lopy at Almeria

Senegalese midfielder Dion Lopy is the subject of reported interest from Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad, with the 24-year-old currently playing for UD Almeria.

Lopy joined Almeria from French side Stade de Reims in August 2023 for €6.5m and has since featured in both Spain’s top two divisions. He has made 63 LaLiga 2 appearances, scoring four goals and providing five assists, while also playing 30 times in LaLiga.

The defensive midfielder’s current market value is listed at €15m, although no transfer fee has been reported for a possible move to Al-Ittihad. Any deal would need to account for Lopy’s long-term contract with Almeria, which runs until 30 June 2030.

Almeria are competing in LaLiga 2, while Al-Ittihad are among the clubs in the Saudi Pro League seeking to strengthen their squads. Lopy’s previous senior experience includes 59 Ligue 1 appearances for Reims before his move to Spain.

Born in Bambilor, Senegal, Lopy began his European career with Reims B after moving from Oslo FA Dakar in 2020. The proposed transfer remains at the rumour stage, with no confirmation from either club.
