New Barcelona signing Jesse Bisiwu vows to work hard for club
New Barcelona signing Jesse Bisiwu has pledged to work hard and be prepared whenever first-team coach Hansi Flick decides to call on him.
The Belgian winger, who is of Ghanaian descent, made the promise after being officially unveiled by the Spanish giants on Tuesday, insisting that joining Barcelona represents the fulfilment of a childhood dream.
Although the teenager is expected to begin his career with Barça Atlètic, he is determined to prove himself and earn an opportunity with the senior side.
‘A dream come true’
Bisiwu revealed that playing for Barcelona has been one of his ambitions since childhood and said he has already held discussions with Flick about what is expected of him.
“When I was young, I always dreamed of playing for a big club like Barcelona, so being here is a dream come true for me. He [Hansi Flick] welcomed me very well, we had some conversations, and it’s very easy to understand what I have to do this year: work hard and learn as much as possible,” Bisiwu said.
The winger added that his immediate priority is to continue developing so that he is ready whenever the opportunity arrives.
“When the coach needs me, I will be there; I just want to work hard to be ready. I have seen the Camp Nou stadium on television, but not in person.”
First-team dream remains alive
While Bisiwu is expected to spend much of the season with Barcelona’s reserve team, the club’s technical staff will closely monitor his progress.
The teenager is regarded as one of the club’s promising young additions and could make his senior debut during the 2026-27 campaign if he continues to impress.
Ghanaian talent aiming high
Bisiwu’s arrival has generated excitement among Ghanaian football fans, who will be hoping to see another player with Ghanaian roots break into one of Europe’s biggest clubs.
For now, however, the young winger remains focused on adapting to life in Spain, learning from his coaches and team-mates, and ensuring he is ready if his chance comes under Flick.
