Tottenham have no plans to sign Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson this summer

Tottenham Hotspur do not intend to open negotiations for Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson during the current summer transfer window, despite reports linking the 25-year-old with a move to the London club.

According to Sports Mole, Tottenham have no plans to pursue Jackson. Chelsea are understood to have placed a valuation of about £65m on the Senegal international, although the report also says his contract runs until 2023, which appears to be a chronological error.

Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has suggested Jackson could remain at Stamford Bridge, but competition for places in attack has intensified following the arrival of Danny Welbeck. Joao Pedro, Liam Delap and Emanuel Emegha are also among the forwards competing for places.

Jackson joined Chelsea from Villarreal in the summer of 2023. He has scored 30 goals and provided 12 assists in 81 appearances for the club in all competitions.

Tottenham are still believed to be looking for further options at centre-forward, despite having several players available in that position. Their current choices include Dominic Solanke, Richarlison, Dane Scarlett and Mathys Tel, although Tel has featured mainly as a winger during much of the club’s pre-season schedule.

Scarlett is expected to leave Tottenham this summer after failing to establish himself as a regular first-team player. Richarlison, meanwhile, is entering the final year of his contract.

Head coach Roberto De Zerbi has made clear that he wants Richarlison to stay. The Brazil forward has scored twice during pre-season after finishing last campaign as Tottenham’s leading scorer, with 12 goals in all competitions.

Richarlison is not currently involved in serious negotiations with another club and is not applying pressure to leave Tottenham. However, the club risk losing him for nothing in the summer of 2027 if they do not sell him during the current transfer window.

Despite deciding against a move for Jackson, Tottenham are considered to need more depth in the central striker role, particularly because of the physical problems experienced by Solanke. The report says the club have already identified a more ambitious alternative target.

Earlier reports had suggested Tottenham were surprisingly interested in Jackson, whose future has become uncertain after an inconsistent loan spell with Bayern Munich last season.

Jackson scored 11 goals and registered four assists in 34 appearances for Bayern. However, he was used predominantly as a substitute for striker Harry Kane in both the Bundesliga and the UEFA Champions League.

The latest report therefore indicates that Tottenham’s interest in Jackson is not expected to develop into a formal pursuit, with the club instead focusing on another target as they assess their attacking options before the transfer window closes.
