Abdel Nasser Mohamed to represent Zamalek at Egyptian Premier League draw

Abdel Nasser Mohamed, Zamalek’s first-team football director, will represent the club at Wednesday’s draw for the new Egyptian Premier League season.

The draw is scheduled to take place at 15:00 local time on Wednesday at the Target Project headquarters in 6 October City. Representatives from all the clubs taking part in the competition are expected to attend the ceremony.

Mohamed will attend on behalf of Zamalek as the club prepares for a new league campaign that will feature a revised competition format. The draw will determine the arrangements for a season involving 20 teams.

Zamalek’s first-team squad is continuing its preparations for the new season at a closed training camp in the New Administrative Capital. The team is working under head coach Moatamed Gamal as it builds towards the start of the campaign.

The Egyptian Premier League will initially be played as a single-round competition involving all 20 clubs. Once that stage has been completed, the teams will be divided into two groups with different objectives.

The first group will contain six teams competing for the title. The remaining 14 clubs will be placed in a second group and will compete to avoid relegation.

At the end of the season, four teams will drop into the second division, while three clubs will be promoted to the top flight. As a result, the Egyptian Premier League is scheduled to consist of 19 teams in the 2027-28 season.

Zamalek’s presence at the draw will therefore provide the club with an early indication of the structure of its league campaign, although the team’s preparations are continuing separately at its training camp.

The ceremony will bring together representatives of the participating clubs at the Target Project in 6 October City, where the complete arrangements for the forthcoming league season will be established.

The draw is being held on Wednesday, 5 August 2026, following preparations by the competition organisers and the clubs involved. Zamalek will be represented by Mohamed, who holds responsibility for the club’s first-team football operations.
