Wydad AC consider reunion with Liaoning Tieren striker Guy Mbenza
Congolese striker Guy Mbenza is the subject of a reported move from Liaoning Tieren to Wydad AC, the Moroccan club where he helped win the CAF Champions League in the 2021-22 season.
Mbenza, 26, has scored nine goals in 19 Chinese Super League appearances for Liaoning Tieren in 2026, adding one assist. He has started 86% of the club’s league matches and has been involved in 36% of their goals.
The centre-forward joined Liaoning Tieren from Muaither SC on a free transfer in January 2025 and remains under contract until 31 December 2026. His current market value is listed at €1.8m.
A return to Wydad would reunite Mbenza with the club he represented during the 2021-22 campaign. He scored 16 goals in the Botola Pro Inwi that season and was the competition’s leading scorer, while also helping Wydad secure the Moroccan league title and the CAF Champions League.
Mbenza began his career in Congo before moving to Tunisia and subsequently spending time in Belgium, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait. He joined Royal Antwerp from Cercle Brugge in 2020 and later moved permanently to Al-Tai in 2022.
The reported interest comes with Mbenza’s Liaoning Tieren contract entering its final months, although any transfer would still require an agreement before his deal expires at the end of 2026.
